Her educational background includes a PhD in French Studies from the University of Catania, supervised by Prof. Maria Teresa Puleio, and a DEA from Université d'Aix-en-Provence under Prof. Ines Oseki-Dépré. She began her academic career as a permanent researcher in French Literature (L/LIN 03) and later transitioned to Language and Translation – French (L/LIN 04, now FRAN-01/B) via internal mobility.
Loredana Pavone’s research focuses on the intersection of language, culture, and translation. Her primary areas include contrastive phraseology, lexicography, audiovisual translation (especially dubbing and subtitling), cultural aspects in bilingual dictionaries, and the treatment of Anglicisms and idioms in French. She has explored the role of multimedia in language teaching and has long been engaged in methodologies for teaching Italian to foreigners and modern language didactics.
Her recent publications and thesis supervision reflect a strong trend in sociolinguistic and cultural analysis of French, particularly in youth language, regional varieties, inclusive writing, and phraseological units. She has also guided students in analyzing neologisms, intersemiotic translation, and discrimination in linguistic practices.
