Tomasz Wojtowicz

Prof. Tomasz Wojtowicz serves as Professor of Experimental Physics and Deputy Head at the International Centre for Interfacing Magnetism and Superconductivity with Topological Matter (MagTop), an International Research Agenda project funded by the Foundation for Polish Science and hosted by the Institute of Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences (IFPAN) in Warsaw. He leads the MBE Group and has established critical research infrastructure at IFPAN since the 1990s.

He earned his PhD (1988) and habilitation (2000) in experimental condensed matter physics at IFPAN, receiving the title of Professor of Physical Sciences in 2005. His international experience spans over seven years at institutions including University of Notre Dame (postdoc 1988-1990, visiting professor 2001-2004) and Purdue University (2014-2015).

Wojtowicz's research pioneers topological matter integration with magnetism and superconductivity through molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) techniques. He develops hybrid nanostructures by doping magnetic ions or interfacing materials, with global impact through 630+ publications (8,200+ citations, H-index 43). His MBE expertise enables nanostructure fabrication studied worldwide across solid-state physics disciplines.

Wojtowicz co-founded IFPAN's Laboratory of Physics and Growth of Low Dimensional Crystals (1992), initiated the Universal Technological Line for Nanostructures (2013), and established the Interdivisional Laboratory of Semiconductor Nanostructures (2018) – the material foundation for MagTop.
