Tomasz Skwarnicki

Professor Tomasz Skwarnicki is a faculty member in the Department of Physics at Syracuse University, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Experimental Elementary Particle Physics from the Institute of Nuclear Physics (1986) and an M.S. from Jagiellonian University (1982). His research focuses on experimental high-energy physics, particularly in searches for new forces in particle decays, heavy quarkonium spectroscopy, and instrumentation for collider experiments. He is a core member of the LHCb collaboration at CERN, contributing to studies of beauty and charm quarks, and has participated in prior projects like CLEO and BTeV.

Research Interests: Experimental elementary particle physics, CP violation studies, quarkonium spectroscopy, and detector instrumentation. His work includes analyzing B meson decays, measuring CKM matrix parameters, and exploring exotic hadron states. Recent efforts involve precision measurements in B physics and tests of lepton flavor universality.

Grants & Collaborations: Active in NSF-funded projects such as the LHCb Upgrade, including development of timing layers and computing infrastructure. Collaborations include the Syracuse LHCb team, focusing on data analysis and detector advancements.
