Prof. Tomasz Sikora is a Professor at the Institute of Religious Studies, Faculty of Philosophy, Jagiellonian University. He specializes in semiotics, anthropology, and phenomenology of religion with particular focus on Jewish mysticism, shamanism, and comparative esoteric traditions. His academic journey includes studies at Jagiellonian University, Freie Universität Berlin, and Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg, followed by habilitation at UJ. He has held visiting professorships at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and conducted research stays in Paris, Tübingen, and Tehran.
Key research areas include Kabbalistic symbolism, cognitive aspects of religious experiences, and comparative analysis of mystical traditions. He supervises licencjackie/magisterskie students O. Stachowski, P. Ćwik, G. Wingert, and doctoral candidates M. Perun, A. Rogowski. His editorial work includes translations of Oskar Goldberg and Rachel Elior, and he teaches courses on Jewish mysticism, phenomenology of religion, and semiotic theory.
