Rev. Dr. hab. Tomasz Duma, Prof. KUL, is the Head of the Department of Metaphysics at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. His academic journey includes MA and doctoral studies in Theology and Philosophy at CUL, with additional studies at Universität Regensburg. He holds the title of Professor at KUL and has held roles such as Vice-Director of the Institute of Higher Religious Culture. His research focuses on metaphysics, anthropology, philosophy of God, ethics, and theology, drawing heavily on Thomistic tradition and the Lublin School of Philosophy.
Education: MA in Theology (1994), PhD in Theoretical Philosophy (2004) from CUL. His work bridges philosophical traditions, including medieval and modern thought, particularly engaging with St. Thomas Aquinas and Gallus Manser.
Research interests emphasize ontological foundations, human identity, and the interplay between faith and reason. Notable contributions include editorship of peer-reviewed journals like Studia Gilsoniana and authored works on metaphysical relations and realistic philosophy. His articles explore topics such as Thomistic anthropology, metaphysical methodology, and the philosophy of Karol Wojtyła.
Teaching spans ethics, metaphysics, and philosophy of religion across multiple institutions, including Lublin’s University of Life Sciences and the Lateran-affiliated Institute in Ukraine. He actively organizes academic competitions and contributes to the promotion of philosophical education.
