Tomasz Derda is a full Professor at the University of Warsaw, holding the Chair of Epigraphy and Papyrology. His research spans papyrology, Greco-Roman Egypt, administrative history, and Christian inscriptions in Egypt.
Research Trends: Recent publications focus on late antique monastic economies, Byzantine urban transformation in the Mareotis region, and interdisciplinary analysis of papyri and archaeological evidence. His work bridges textual analysis with physical site excavations, particularly in the Fayum and Mareotis regions.
Editorial Contributions: He has served as Editor of The Journal of Juristic Papyrology since 1995 and oversees its supplement series. He was Co-Editor of Nubica et Æthiopica (1997–2006).
