Prof. Tomasz Basiuk is Full Professor at the University of Warsaw's American Studies Center (Institute of the Americas and Europe), specializing in queer theory, American fiction, and Polish LGBTQ+ history. Founding co-editor of InterAlia journal and former director of American Studies Center (2005-2012). Fulbright scholar and PI for HERA-funded CRUSEV project.
Research initiatives:
- CRUSEV (2016-2019): Documented pre-HIV/AIDS queer sexual cultures
- QueerIt (2023-2026): Analyzing queer theory reception in Polish/German academia
Publications examine AIDS narratives, coming out discourses, and queer Polish history. Authored 2 monographs and edited 8 volumes bridging American/Polish queer studies.
