Tomas Sjögren is a Professor at the Umeå School of Business, Economics and Statistics (USBE) at Umeå University, serving as Assistant Head of the Department of Economics. His research focuses on public economics, environmental economics, behavioral economics, taxation policy, labor economics, and welfare economics. He has contributed extensively to understanding optimal taxation frameworks, social comparisons in fiscal policy, environmental externalities, and behavioral public finance.
