Charles Stuart is a Professor of Economics at UC Santa Barbara's College of Letters & Science, Department of Economics. He holds a Ph.D. from Lund University and M.A./B.A. from UCLA. His research focuses on public finance and evolutionary economics, examining tax policies, market dynamics, and social security systems. Current projects include analyzing population externalities in environmental contexts and political economy of taxation.
Dr. Stuart's research spans welfare economics, labor supply responses to taxation, market organization, and evolutionary behavioral models. His work combines theoretical modeling with empirical analysis of fiscal systems across countries.
He has published extensively in top economics journals including Journal of Political Economy, American Economic Review, and Scandinavian Journal of Economics. His research demonstrates consistent focus on policy-relevant economic analysis spanning five decades.
