Tomas Frederiksen is a Senior Lecturer in International Development at the Global Development Institute (GDI), University of Manchester. His research focuses on extraction and development, bridging development studies and political ecology. He examines natural resource extraction's socio-environmental impacts in Africa and Latin America, with a focus on Zambia, Ghana, and Peru. Key themes include transnational environmental governance, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and historical colonial legacies.

Teaching: Convenes courses on Uganda Fieldwork and Environment and Development, and contributes to modules on Development Fundamentals, Climate Change, and Environmental Policy.
