Prof. Tom van Woensel holds the position of Full Professor of Freight Transport and Logistics at the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (TU/e), Netherlands. He leads the Smart Logistics research theme involving ~15 researchers and serves as Director of Education and Graduate Program Director for the Department of Industrial Engineering & Innovation Sciences (2,300 students across programs). He also chairs the Bachelor Program Industrial Engineering (850 students) and acts as Academic Director of the Executive Master of Operations and Supply Chain Management.
His research focuses on freight transport and logistics, with over 110 publications in top journals like Management Science and Transportation Science. He collaborates with CIRRELT (Montreal) and secures grants from EU, Dinalog, Transumo, NWO, and industry partners. As associate editor for journals like Transportation Science, he bridges academia and industry through projects with students and multinational companies.
Van Woensel directs the European Supply Chain Forum (75+ multinationals) and is a frequent conference speaker. His work emphasizes sustainable and digital supply chain solutions, reflecting his dual role in advancing both theoretical research and practical applications.
