Tom Wood is a Researcher at King's College London, affiliated with the Department of Geography within the Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy. He specializes in studying unseen climate extremes and high-impact, low-likelihood (HILL) climate events. His work focuses on interdisciplinary approaches combining physical climate science and social science to assess risks and inform adaptation strategies in vulnerable regions. Tom holds a PhD in Climate Dynamics from the University of Leeds, where he researched atmospheric circulation responses to climate drivers like greenhouse gases and aerosols.
His research interests include extreme climate events, deep uncertainty analysis, and climate projections. He collaborates with the Research Centre for Integrated Research in Risk & Resilience and the Physical & Environmental Geography research group to address environmental and societal challenges.
Tom's recent work emphasizes detecting unprecedented climate extremes and their societal impacts. His articles analyze jet stream dynamics, tropical belt sensitivity, and climate model efficacy, contributing to improved understanding of future climate scenarios.
