Tom Sherwood is an Adjunct Research Professor at Carleton University's Department of Sociology and Anthropology. He holds degrees including a Ph.D. from Carleton and has a dual professional trajectory: as an ordained minister in the United Church of Canada and an academic. From 1999-2009, he served as Carleton University Chaplain. As a part-time university teacher (1982–2017), he taught Anthropology, Sociology, and Religion at Carleton and Saint Paul University. In 2009, he became the McGeachy Senior Scholar, leading a national study on Canadian millennials' religiosity, published as Listening to the Echo (2016). His research explores religion in Canadian society, interfaith relations, and youth spirituality. Beyond academia, he is a Senior Fitness Instructor and a playwright, performing works like Eat, Drink and Be Merry to support community initiatives.
