Tom Royer is a Visiting Researcher at the Arctic Centre and the Faculty of Law, University of Lapland, and a Doctoral Researcher in the Doctoral Programme: the Arctic in a Changing World. His external positions include roles in the COST Action FOGOS (Member of Management Committee, WG2, and WG5), Legal Research Member of the Association for International Legal Research on Space Sustainability, and former member of the IPASS Project under the Space Generation Advisory Council.
His research focuses on Space Law, Arctic Politics, and Posthumanism, with particular emphasis on space sustainability, commercial spaceports, and environmental security. His work bridges critical legal theory with interdisciplinary approaches, exploring governance frameworks for outer space and the Arctic region.
Royer’s publications and activities reflect a commitment to advancing sustainable policies and critical discourse in emerging fields. He has organized events like the Calotte Academy 2024 and contributed to international policy documents like the Intergenerational Pact for Space Sustainability. His academic engagements emphasize collaboration across legal, environmental, and geopolitical domains.
