Tom Nyvang

Tom Nyvang is an Associate Professor at Aalborg University's Department of Communication and Psychology within The Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. He specializes in the impact of technology on education, particularly focusing on integrating information and communication technologies (ICT) into learning environments. His research explores how organizations develop practices using digital platforms to enhance teaching and learning in higher education. Nyvang currently serves as study leader for programs at the Institute for Communication and Psychology and has supervised four PhD students in related fields.

His research interests include educational technology, organizational development in academic institutions, and the interplay between leadership choices and individual decision-making in organizational contexts. Key areas of focus include Business Intelligence (BI) implementation in universities and healthcare systems, ICT adoption challenges in education, and e-learning methodologies.

Nyvang has contributed to 17 projects, including initiatives like 'Generativ AI som ny faglighed i uddannelser på AAU' (2025-2027) and 'Implementation of ICT in Higher Education'. His work frequently addresses barriers to technology integration, user satisfaction, and systemic compatibility. He has also engaged in editorial roles and academic leadership, such as chairing Studienævnet for Humanistisk Informatik (2013–2016).

His publications span over two decades, with recent works emphasizing BI success criteria, ICT integration in Bangladeshi vocational institutions, and collaborative e-learning design. Nyvang’s contributions highlight both theoretical frameworks and practical applications of technology in educational and organizational settings.
