Tom Muller is a Clinical Professor at the University of Arizona’s Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, affiliated since 1997. He serves as Coordinator of Clinical Education for Audiology, overseeing student clinical placements and externships. His work focuses on adult hearing impairments, hearing aids, cochlear implants, and hearing conservation. Dr. Muller is a past chair of the Council for Clinical Certification in Audiology and the Arizona Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Boulder, University of Colorado (1988)
- Master’s degree from University of Arizona (1990)
- Doctorate of Audiology from Arizona School of Health Sciences (2002)
His research explores psychosocial impacts of hearing loss in the elderly and advanced hearing technologies. He innovatively developed clinical training models for AuD students, earning the 2010 College of Science Innovation in Teaching Award and the 2011 national Larry Mauldin Award for Excellence in Education.
As an educator, Dr. Muller coordinates clinical rotations, mentors externships, and facilitates monthly grand rounds. He integrates patient care with teaching, ensuring students gain hands-on experience in hearing evaluations and device services.
