Tom Mudd is a Reader in Creative Audio Programming and Computer Music Systems at the Reid School of Music, University of Edinburgh. As Programme Director for the BSc (Hons) Acoustics & Music Technology, his work bridges algorithmic processes with immersive sound art.

Research interests focus on nonlinear dynamics in musical interfaces, physical modeling synthesis, and audience interaction frameworks. His projects explore:
- Algorithmic randomization of synthesis parameters
- Haptic interfaces for musical instruments
- Wikipedia sonification and interactive installations
Software & Releases include the GPL-licensed Gutter Synthesis tool (8 Duffing oscillators) and interactive projects like Dialog and CONTROL. Current PhD students: Fran Allen and Jia Wu.
