Ben Fuhrman is an Assistant Professor of Music Technology at Montana State University, affiliated with the School of Music within the College of Arts & Architecture. He holds a B.M. in Violin Performance from Hope College (2004), an M.M. and D.M.A. in Music Composition from Michigan State University (2006 and 2009). His research focuses on composition (acoustic, electronic, interactive), sound synthesis, spatialization, and digital audio workstations. He also explores sonification and interdisciplinary collaborations. His work includes live electronics, acousmatic music, and sound design for film and video games.

Awards: 2024 ASCAPlus Award from ASCAP.
Teaching & Grants: Teaches courses like MIDI and Electro-Acoustic Composition, Sound Design and Synthesis, and Electronic Composition. Collaborations include projects with the MSU National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory and the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams.
Creative Work: Composed works commissioned by ensembles like the H-2 Quartet and Drake Dantzler. Albums include Concrete Oasis and Synthesizer and Computer Works, available on major labels. Recent pieces include Spiraling (2024), performed globally, and Web, an Ambisonic acousmatic work.
