Tom Meier is a Professor in the Department of Anatomy & Structural Biology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, leading the Tom Meier Lab. His research focuses on nucleolar ribonucleoprotein biogenesis, particularly H/ACA RNPs, and their roles in cancer, bone marrow failure, and human reproduction. He investigates mechanisms underlying RNP assembly and dysfunction, collaborating with structural biologists and clinical scientists. Additionally, his lab studies nucleolar channel systems (NCSs) in endometrial cells, which are critical for embryo implantation and fertility. Key projects include identifying molecular markers for NCSs and exploring their regulatory roles in uterine biology. Students are actively involved in these research areas.
His research spans molecular mechanisms of RNA modification, oncogenic proteins, and fertility markers, with a focus on translational applications in medicine.
