معرفی
Professor Tom McNeilly is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the School of Biodiversity, One Health & Veterinary Medicine, University of Glasgow. His research focuses on parasite-host interactions, immunology, and vaccine development, particularly targeting helminth infections in livestock and their implications for One Health. He leads studies on tuft cells, microRNAs, and mucosal immunity, contributing to understanding host responses to gastrointestinal parasites.
His work integrates omics technologies (proteomics, metabolomics) to analyze pathogens and host responses, with applications in vaccine design and disease control. McNeilly collaborates widely, publishing in journals like Frontiers in Immunology and International Journal for Parasitology. His research also addresses agricultural challenges, such as liver fluke impacts on livestock productivity and antimicrobial resistance in ovine bacteria.
Key research trends include: (1) microRNA-mediated modulation of host immunity by helminths, (2) tuft cell roles in detecting and responding to parasites, and (3) applying omics to characterize disease mechanisms. McNeilly’s interdisciplinary approach bridges basic science and applied veterinary medicine, with a focus on sustainable livestock health solutions.
