Professor Tom Maguire is Head of the School of Arts & Humanities at Ulster University. His academic profile spans contemporary drama, performance studies, and museum & heritage research with a focus on identity, place, and power dynamics in Britain and Ireland. He teaches and supervises doctoral projects in Drama and Museums & Cultural Heritage while leading two major research initiatives: Future Screens NI and Museums, Crisis and Covid-19.

Research interests examine intersections between performance, identity, and post-conflict societies, with particular emphasis on Irish and Scottish theatre traditions, Theatre for Young Audiences, and storytelling practices. His work contributes to UNESCO's Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 16 (Peace and Justice).
His 74+ research outputs across 1992-2023 include peer-reviewed articles in Journal of Contemporary Drama in English, Strenae, and Journal of Hate Studies. Current projects explore post-pandemic museum revitalization and screen industry innovation.
