Tom Depuydt is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, KU Leuven, affiliated with the Department of Oncology and Laboratory of Experimental Radiotherapy. His work spans medical physics, proton therapy, and radiotherapy technology, with active involvement in Leuven.AM – KU Leuven Institute for Additive Manufacturing and LKI - KU Leuven Cancer Institute. He serves on councils like the OC Medical Radiation Physics and Radiation Protection Commission, and as ZAP member in academic governance.
His research focuses on advanced radiotherapy techniques, including 3D-printed patient-specific immobilization devices, proton therapy for pregnancy-related cases, and Monte Carlo proton beam modeling. Projects like ProPOSE and COMFIX highlight his innovation in additive manufacturing for oncology. Recent publications address motion mitigation in lung cancer therapy, focal boosting for prostate SBRT, and dose reconstruction in dynamic radiotherapy.
He contributes to the ParTICLe proton therapy center and collaborates on European radiation safety initiatives. His teaching includes courses on Quality Assurance in Radiotherapy and Medical Physics Internships, reflecting his expertise in radiation technology and clinical applications.
