Sandra Nuyts is a full professor at the Faculty of Medicine of KU Leuven, serving as head of the Laboratory of Experimental Radiotherapy within the Department of Oncology. She is also a senior academic staff member actively participating in councils and committees at both the faculty and departmental levels.
- Research Focus: Her work centers on optimizing radiotherapy for head and neck cancers, leveraging radiogenomics, HPV-DNA monitoring, and additive manufacturing for patient-specific immobilization. She also investigates exercise interventions to enhance quality of life for cancer patients.
- Leadership: Leads the Laboratory of Experimental Radiotherapy and contributes to strategic decisions at KU Leuven’s Faculty of Medicine and Department of Oncology.
- Projects: Current initiatives include Circulating tumor HPV-DNA as a disease monitoring tool (2025–2030) and COMFIX (2023–2027) for personalized radiotherapy immobilization.
