معرفی
Tom Davison is a Lecturer in Computational Data Science at the Department of Earth Science and Engineering, Imperial College London, within the Faculty of Engineering. He holds affiliations with the Applied Modelling and Computation Group (AMCG), the Earth and Planets research group, the Impacts and Astromaterials Research Centre (IARC), and the Space Lab. His current role began in 2022, following prior positions as a Research Fellow (2018–present) and Research Associate (2013–2018). He was also an Arthur H. Compton Lecturer at the University of Chicago (2012) and a Postdoctoral Research Scholar there (2011–2013).
Education includes a PhD in Numerical Modelling of Heat Generation in Porous Planetesimal Collisions (Imperial College London, 2007–2010) and an MSci in Geology and Geophysics (Imperial College London, 2002–2006).
Research focuses on early Solar System processes, including planetesimal collisions, thermal and compaction histories, impact simulations, and validation of hydrocodes like iSALE and iSALE3D. Projects include Monte Carlo modelling of meteorite parent bodies, mesoscale compaction studies, and impact angle effects on cratering. He also investigates oceanic impact cratering dynamics.
No scientific awards are explicitly mentioned. Advising and grants details are not provided in the text. His affiliations include key research groups focused on planetary science and computational modelling.
