Tom Daamen is an Associate Professor of Urban Development Management at Delft University of Technology and Director of the Dutch Foundation for Area Development Knowledge (SKG). His work focuses on governance strategies for complex urban redevelopment projects, particularly in inner cities, addressing integrative governance, public-private partnerships, financing mechanisms, and institutional reforms. He collaborates closely with Dutch government bodies, housing corporations, and developers. Daamen leads research on port-city interface dynamics, social sustainability implementation, and innovative urban financing models.
His research spans topics like port-city spatial planning, value capture mechanisms, and climate resilience in urban systems. He has supervised PhD candidates such as Céline Janssen. Daamen’s publications address urban development challenges in Europe and beyond, with notable contributions to journals like Maritime Economics & Logistics and European Planning Studies.
