Dr. Tom Christopher Pröstler, LL.M. (Sydney) is a dispute resolution partner with CMS in Germany and a senior foreign legal consultant with CMS Hong Kong's international arbitration team. He serves as a visiting lecturer at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, where he teaches courses on international arbitration, international sales law and legal tech within the International Dispute Resolution Masters (LL.M.) program. With over a decade of experience, he advises clients in complex, multi-jurisdictional disputes involving a wide range of applicable laws.

Dr. Pröstler specializes in international arbitration proceedings under all major procedural rules including ICC, DIS, HKIAC, LCIA and UNCITRAL Rules. He regularly advises on commercial, corporate, and post-M&A disputes across sectors including engineering (plants, infrastructure, software, automotive and e-mobility), energy (offshore wind, solar, coal, gas and biomass), mining, pharmaceuticals, medical technology, and consumer products.
His research and publication interests focus on the intersection of legal practice and technology, particularly in dispute resolution. He has co-edited and co-authored "International Construction Disputes – A Practitioner's Guide" and regularly publishes on international arbitration, legal tech, and construction disputes. His work demonstrates a strong trend toward understanding cross-cultural legal traditions and the growing importance of Asian jurisdictions in international arbitration.
Dr. Pröstler has received recognition as a "Global Elite Thought Leader" in the Lexology Index 2024 for Arbitration (Under 45 Partners).
