Tom Booth is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Edinburgh's School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences. His research focuses on quantitative methods, psychometrics, personality traits, organizational psychology, and health outcomes, particularly in aging populations.
He holds a BSc in Psychology from the University of Bath and advanced degrees (MSc & PhD in Organizational Psychology) from Manchester Business School. Before his lectureship, he contributed to the Cognitive Epidemiology Group (CCCACE) at Edinburgh, studying aging-related cognitive changes.
Current research emphasizes retirement's impact on long-term health, leveraging longitudinal methodologies like experience sampling. He collaborates on projects involving epigenetic signatures, personality taxonomy development, and behavioral trait assessment validity.
Teaching responsibilities include courses on data analysis in R (dapR2/dapR3), psychometrics, and current trends in psychology. He is temporarily unavailable for PhD supervision during 2023-24 due to research leave.
Publications span over 50 peer-reviewed articles, with notable contributions to personality measurement, ADHD trajectories, and the intersection of cognitive ability with biological aging markers.
