Tom Beghin is a Research Fellow at the Orpheus Institute specializing in 18th- and early 19th-century keyboard performance. His research bridges historical musicology with modern technology, notably through projects like The Virtual Haydn, which recreated period instruments in virtual acoustic spaces. He holds expertise in Beethoven and Haydn performance, demonstrated through recordings on replicas of historical pianos.
Research interests center on keyboard performance practice, technology-rhetoric intersections, and historically informed interpretation. Recent projects include Declassifying the Classics exploring rhetorical aspects in Haydn and Beethoven through material reconstructions of period instruments.
