معرفی
Tom Barbara is a Senior Scientist at the Advanced Imaging Research Center (AIRC) at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) since 2006. He holds a doctoral degree in Physical Chemistry from Columbia University (1982) and completed postgraduate studies at UCSD (1982–84) and the University of Illinois (1984–86). Before joining OHSU, he worked as an NMR Research & Development Scientist at Varian Inc. (1988–2006). His expertise spans theoretical and experimental magnetic resonance, with a focus on radio frequency (RF) coil design, gradient coil design, and electromagnetic theory. He also oversees aspects of the AIRC's electronics and machine shops.
Research Interests: Dr. Barbara’s work centers on advancing magnetic resonance technologies, particularly in RF coil design and interface systems. His contributions include innovations in gradient coil design and applications of electromagnetic theory to medical imaging. He actively engages in both theoretical and experimental research to enhance imaging techniques and instrumentation.
Labs/Teams: Barbara is affiliated with the Advanced Imaging Research Center (AIRC) and the W M Keck Foundation High-Field MRI Laboratory at OHSU, where he collaborates on cutting-edge imaging projects.
