Todd Weaver is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse (UWL). He earned a B.S. in Microbiology (Honors) from UWL and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Minnesota. His career began with structural biochemistry research at Fort Detrick, where he purified HIV reverse transcriptase. He joined UWL in 1998, helping establish the Biochemistry Major. His research focuses on enzyme structure-function relationships, particularly fumarase and hemolysin. He collaborates extensively with undergraduate students and external institutions like Argonne National Laboratory.
- Education: B.S. Microbiology (1990, UWL); Ph.D. Biochemistry (1996, University of Minnesota)
Research Interests:
• Structural basis of enzyme catalysis
• Fumarase oligomerization defects and metabolic disorders
• Hemolysin toxin structure and bacterial pathogenesis
Publications highlight structural studies of metabolic enzymes and bacterial toxins, with recent work emphasizing fumarase loop dynamics and hemolysin dimerization mechanisms.
