Dr. Todd Schoborg is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology at the University of Wyoming, affiliated with the College of Agriculture, Life Sciences and Natural Resources. His lab focuses on understanding the genetic basis of disease using Drosophila melanogaster as a model system. Techniques employed include genetics, cell biology, developmental biology, biochemistry, high-resolution microscopy, and -omics approaches to bridge molecular mechanisms with organismal physiology and development.
Research interests involve studying how gene mutations disrupt cellular and tissue homeostasis, with applications to human health. The lab is part of the Molecular and Cellular Life Sciences Program and utilizes advanced imaging methods like u-CT for whole-animal phenotyping. They investigate brain growth control, neural stem cell behavior, and disease-related processes such as cancer cachexia.
