معرفی
Todd Pedlar is a Professor of Physics and Department Head at Luther College. He joined the faculty in 2003 and specializes in elementary particle physics, focusing on heavy quarkonium systems (bottomonium and charmonium). His research involves the Belle and Belle II collaborations at KEK, Japan, supported by continuous National Science Foundation grants since 2006. He teaches courses such as Classical Physics, Quantum Mechanics, and Particle and Nuclear Physics.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Elementary Particle Physics, Northwestern University (1999)
- B.A. in Physics, Whitman College (1991), Summa Cum Laude and Department Honors
Research & Grants: Dr. Pedlar’s work examines the strong nuclear interaction via quarkonium studies. His NSF grants fund student research, travel to KEK, and computing infrastructure. Recent grants (2021–2024) total $150,000.
Student Impact: Over 2012–2022, 5 of 13 research students pursued physics Ph.D.s, while others entered engineering, materials science, and law. Students present findings at the American Physical Society and international conferences like the International Conference on Heavy Quarks and Leptons.
Labs & Collaborations: Active member of Belle II collaboration; contributes to detector operations and data analysis at KEK.
