Todd J. Pfannestiel, Ph.D. serves as the President of Utica University and has held a succession of senior academic leadership roles including Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. Previously, he spent two decades on the faculty at Clarion University of Pennsylvania, ultimately attaining the rank of Professor of History while also serving as Dean of the College of Arts, Education, and Sciences, Interim Provost, and Acting President. His career reflects a sustained commitment to advancing higher-education quality and access.

- Ph.D. in History, College of William and Mary — Woodrow Wilson Foundation Fellow in the Humanities
- Post-graduate studies in Economics, Duke University — National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow

Research & Scholarly Focus:
Although administrative duties now predominate, Dr. Pfannestiel’s scholarly roots lie in History and the Economics of Education. His current work centers on innovative curriculum redesign, general education reform, and the development of workforce-aligned academic programs that expand opportunity for first-generation and non-traditional students.
