Todd Disotell is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He previously served at New York University for 27 years before joining UMass in 2020. His research spans primate evolution, molecular evolution, and conservation biology, with a focus on sequencing technologies for genomic studies. He leads the Molecular Primatology Lab, established in 2020, which employs Sanger and Next-Generation Sequencing to explore primate evolution, biodiversity, and disease ecology.

His research interests include Old World monkey and ape evolution, lemurid and lorisid studies, and applications in forensic science and cryptozoology. He actively engages in public outreach, appearing on TV shows to communicate scientific research.
