Todd Allee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Government and Politics at the University of Maryland. His research focuses on international organizations, international trade, foreign direct investment, international law, and dispute settlement, particularly within the World Trade Organization (WTO). He has authored significant works including the forthcoming book The Geneva Effect: Trade Protection and Dispute Resolution in the World Trade Organization, which examines WTO dispute settlement as part of a broader process using an original dataset of over 7,000 disputes.
- Education: PhD in Political Science from the University of Michigan; MSc in Government from the London School of Economics; BA with Honours in Political Science from the University of Missouri.
His research agenda includes analyzing the impact of WTO accession on trade, the design and effects of bilateral investment treaties, and the role of U.S. congressional members in trade policymaking. He employs political economy approaches and quantitative methods to study disputes in trade, investment, and territorial conflicts.
Todd Allee has published extensively in leading journals such as the American Political Science Review, International Organization, and Journal of Conflict Resolution. His earlier book, The Democratic Peace and Territorial Conflict in the Twentieth Century (2003), co-authored with Paul K. Huth, explores the dynamics of conflict escalation and resolution.
