Toby Landeryou is a Teaching Professor in Veterinary And Animal Science at Scotland's Rural College (SRUC), affiliated with the Centre for Epidemiology and Planetary Health (CEPH). He is actively involved in research on parasitic infections, bacterial pathogenicity, and epidemiological studies. Landeryou has been accepting PhD students since 2020 and has contributed to multiple research projects, including studies on zoonotic diseases, salmon health, and food chain safety.
His research focuses on molecular epidemiology of helminths like Ascaris lumbricoides and Schistosoma haematobium, as well as the role of prophages in Salmonella pathogenicity. He has led or collaborated on projects funded by the Scottish Government and UK Seafood Fund. Key contributions include comparing diagnostic methods for schistosomiasis and investigating hybridisation in Schistosoma species.
Landeryou has published widely in journals like Nature Communications and PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, with a focus on disease elimination strategies, bacterial virulence mechanisms, and public health interventions.
