Toby Anderson Von Trampe

Toby Anderson Von Trampe serves as a Research Associate at the School of Biological and Marine Sciences within the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Plymouth, where he concurrently pursues his PhD under the supervision of Dr. Anne Plessis (Director of Studies) and Dr. Rich Boden.

His research focuses on advancing sustainable agricultural practices through two primary investigations:

• Optimizing light spectrum conditions to enhance steviol glycoside production in Stevia rebaudiana leaves within controlled environments
• Developing hydroponic systems utilizing waste-derived nutrient sources to promote circular economy principles in crop cultivation

These efforts position him at the intersection of plant biotechnology and resource-efficient agriculture, addressing critical challenges in natural sweetener production and waste valorization for food systems.
