Tobias Peter is a Lecturer and Researcher at the Institute of Computational Life Sciences within the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), School of Life Sciences and Facility Management. His work bridges computational methods with life sciences, focusing on deep learning, machine learning, data science, and statistics.
- Education: Master in Data Science (ETH Zurich, 2020-2022), PhD in Mathematics (UCLA, 2007-2011), Diploma in Mathematics (ETH Zurich, 2001-2006), and Actuary SAA certification (ETH Zurich, 2016).
His research interests span deep learning, data science, and actuarial mathematics. At ZHAW, he leads projects such as Radio Signal Clustering and ChirpNet: AI Grasshopper Biodiversity Monitoring, applying AI to ecological and signal processing challenges.
His earlier work in mathematics, as evidenced by his 2013 publication on Artin-Tate motives, laid a foundation for his interdisciplinary approach. Tobias is also affiliated with the Digital Futures Lab Datalab and the Swiss Association of Actuaries.
