Tobias Kretschmer

Tobias Kretschmer serves as Professor of Strategy, Technology and Organization at LMU Munich's Institute for Strategy, Technology and Organization within the Munich School of Management. Currently on academic leave at Imperial College London, he maintains his primary affiliation with LMU where he has been a faculty member since 2006.

Professor Kretschmer's research centers on strategic and organizational dynamics in digital environments, with particular expertise in competitive strategy within platform markets and digital ecosystems. His work bridges theoretical economic frameworks with practical organizational design challenges in technology-driven industries, making significant contributions to understanding how firms can navigate and leverage digital transformation.

His professional journey includes substantial international experience, having served as Lecturer in Strategy and Economics at the London School of Economics (2001-2006) and as a Research Fellow at INSEAD (2000-2001) before joining LMU. From 2010-2014, he led the 'Industrial Organization and New Technologies' department at the ifo Institute for Economic Research.
