Tingyue Gu is Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Ohio University with joint appointments in Biomedical Engineering and the Institute for Corrosion and Multiphase Technology. His research integrates microbiology, electrochemistry, and materials science to address biofilm-related challenges.
Gu's pioneering work includes developing the first mechanistic model for microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) prediction and novel antimicrobial strategies. Recent investigations focus on extracellular electron transfer corrosion mechanisms and medical device biocorrosion.
As editor-in-chief of Bioresources and Bioprocessing, he shapes research dissemination in sustainable engineering. His interdisciplinary approach bridges fundamental science with energy, medical, and environmental applications.
