Dr. TingTing Hong is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Utah. Her research focuses on the role of membrane microdomains in cardiomyocytes, particularly the cardiac isoform of BIN1 (cBIN1), in regulating calcium signaling and ion channels during heart failure.
Education:
- M.S. from Peking University
- Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor
Her work explores how cBIN1 organizes T-tubules to maintain cardiac function and how its disruption contributes to heart failure. She investigates gene therapy strategies using cBIN1 to restore microdomain integrity and improve clinical outcomes.
Research Trends: Recent publications emphasize cBIN1-based gene therapy for ischemic and non-ischemic heart failure, T-tubule structural recovery, and the diagnostic potential of cBIN1-containing extracellular vesicles. Studies span molecular mechanisms, translational models (mice, minipigs, canines), and clinical trial design.
