Tina Shackleford

Tina Shackleford serves as Teaching Professor of Stage Management and Area Chair for Production Technology and Management in the School of Drama. Her professional stage management credits span over 15 prominent U.S. theatres including La Jolla Playhouse, Pittsburgh Public Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, and collaborations with Theatre de la Jeune Lune and Culture Clash.

Her research focuses on advancing stage management pedagogy and practice through scholarly contributions. She co-chaired the national committee that established NAST-adopted curricular standards for BFA Stage Management programs and has published in Theatre Design & Technology and Stage Directions Magazine. Her work emphasizes practical applications in theatrical production and educational frameworks.

Her 2022 anthology contribution in Off-Headset represents contemporary discourse in stage management literature, highlighting evolving professional practices and mentorship models within theatre education.

Tina actively shapes the field through leadership in professional organizations: as founding member of USITT's EDI Initiative and Gateway Mentorship Program, former Management Commissioner, Board member, and four-year head of the Stage Management Mentor Project. She also serves on Actors' Equity Association's Pittsburgh Outreach Committee and has directed new works at national playwriting festivals.
