Tina Freyburg

Prof. Dr. Tina Freyburg serves as Professor of Comparative Politics at the University of St.Gallen, Switzerland, where she directs the Institute of Political Science and chairs the University's Research Committee.

She earned her PhD from ETH Zurich and previously held positions as a Max Weber Fellow at the European University Institute in Florence (2011/12) and Associate Professor at the University of Warwick's Department of Politics and International Studies until 2015.

Freyburg's research operates at the intersection of comparative, international, and European politics, with a core focus on protecting democratic values in both analog and digital environments. Her current projects investigate the European Union's self-perception as a global actor in democracy promotion policies and analyze political determinants of internet shutdowns alongside their interaction with internet ownership structures.
