Timothy W. Mullett, MD, MBA, FACS is a Professor of Thoracic Surgery at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and serves as Medical Director of Markey Cancer Center Network Development at the UK Markey Cancer Center. He specializes in surgical treatment for patients with lung cancer and is part of the Lung and Thoracic Cancer Team and Thoracic Surgery department.
Dr. Mullett's research interests focus on lung cancer, thoracic surgery, early cancer detection, and cancer survivorship. His personal experience as a cancer survivor (diagnosed with liver cancer in 2012) has deeply influenced his approach to patient care, emphasizing empathy and understanding of the patient journey.

Dr. Mullett has received significant recognition for his contributions to cancer care, including the Lane W. Adams Quality of Life Award from the American Cancer Society in 2017, which honors providers who excel in serving the complex needs of cancer patients and their families beyond the bounds of their duties.
He is also a Colonel in the Army Reserves with deployments in 2004 and 2012, demonstrating his commitment to service beyond academic medicine. His work focuses particularly on providing high-quality care for underrepresented citizens in Kentucky through collaboration with nonprofit, government, and medical groups.
