Timothy S. Rich is a Professor of Political Science at Western Kentucky University and Director of the International Public Opinion Lab (IPOL). He holds a Ph.D. from Indiana University (2012). His research focuses on East Asian domestic/international politics, public opinion, and electoral systems in the US, Latin America, and Africa. He has published over 70 peer-reviewed articles and actively collaborates with undergraduate students. Notable awards include the 2016 PCAL Faculty Research Award and 2021 Advising Award.
Education: Ph.D. in Political Science from Indiana University (2012).
Research Interests: East Asian Politics, Public Opinion Dynamics, Electoral Behavior, and Cross-Cultural Comparisons. His work frequently employs experimental survey methods, analyzing topics like South Korean LGBT tolerance, Taiwanese diplomatic recognition perceptions, and pandemic policy evaluations.
Advising & Grants: Known for mentoring students in research, with multiple co-authored publications. His grants and collaborations focus on international public opinion projects. The IPOL lab conducts global-scale surveys on political issues.
