Timothy Ramadhar is an Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Howard University, affiliated with the College of Arts & Sciences. His research focuses on Organic Chemistry, Natural Products, and Chemical Crystallography, with notable contributions to the 'Crystalline Sponge Method.' He holds a B.Sc. in Honours Biochemistry from the University of Waterloo (2007), a Ph.D. in Chemistry (Organic) from the University of Toronto (2012), and a postdoctoral fellowship in Chemical Biology at Harvard Medical School (2018).
His expertise spans synthetic and computational organic chemistry, crystallographic methodologies, and natural product discovery. Key research areas include the development of crystalline matrices for compound trapping, antimicrobial agents from symbiotic bacteria, and GABA-modulating gut microbiota. His work has been featured in Nature Microbiology, ACS Central Science, and CrystEngComm.
- Grants: NSF PREC Grant (2023-2025), NSF MRI Grant (2021-2024), Pfizer, Inc. (2019-2023)
- Awards: NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein Fellowship, NSERC Alexander Graham Bell CGS D3, NSERC CGS M
His research integrates organic synthesis, crystal engineering, and biological applications, with emphasis on advancing drug discovery and materials science. His lab's recent efforts include designing novel iron chelators and exploring anti-apicomplexan compounds from marine symbionts.
