Research interests include Maya complex societies, urbanization from Preclassic to Colonial periods, and the role of cultural contact in shaping material practices. His work bridges archaeology, anthropology, and historical analysis, emphasizing spatial organization and power dynamics.
Recent publications analyze the earliest urban grid in the Americas at Nixtun-Ch’ich’ (400-200 BCE), defensive architecture at Zacpetén, and ritual performance in postclassic Maya communities. Themes span pre-colonial urban planning, colonial missionization, and syncretic cultural practices.
