Dr Timothy O'Leary holds a dual role as Senior Researcher and Lecturer in the Melbourne School of Design at The University of Melbourne, within the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning. He specializes in Construction Economics and Property Development with a focus on sustainable building practices, energy efficiency, and building regulations. His 25-year career bridges academia and industry, including roles as past State Chair of RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) and member of Engineers Australia's Cost Engineering branch.
Education includes a Masters of Architecture from UNISA and a PhD in Sustainable Engineering of Buildings. His research emphasizes low-carbon construction, building information modeling (BIM), and lifecycle affordability of housing. Notable projects include Australian Research Council (ARC)-funded studies on housing affordability and leadership in the CRC for Low Carbon Living (2012–2019).
