معرفی
Dr. Timothy Morin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Resources Engineering at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF). His research focuses on ecosystem carbon cycling, methane emissions from wetlands, and arctic climate systems. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Science from The Ohio State University (2017), an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology (2012), and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology (2007).
Research Interests: Dr. Morin’s work integrates field methodologies and ecosystem modeling to study greenhouse gas emissions, wetland engineering, and the impacts of buried Arctic ice on global climate. His lab, the Morin Biogeochemistry Lab, emphasizes cutting-edge techniques like eddy covariance and mechanistic modeling of microbial processes. Recent studies include investigating methane dynamics in temperate wetlands and the ecological engineering of wetlands for carbon sequestration.
Advising & Grants: Current advisees include Christian Bright (PhD candidate studying wetland hydrology and carbon dynamics), Erin Hassett (PhD candidate modeling microbial influences on carbon fluxes), and Shelby Martin (MS candidate in Environmental Resources Engineering). His research has addressed topics ranging from Arctic thermokarst carbon linkages to tick-borne disease ecology in urban parks.
Teaching: Courses include ERE 275 (Ecological Engineering), ERE 311 (Ecological Engineering in the Tropics), and specialized graduate topics like ERE 596 (Ecological Modeling and Ecosystems, Carbon, & Climate).
Labs & Teams: The Morin Lab at SUNY ESF employs state-of-the-art instrumentation and collaborates on projects spanning fieldwork in wetlands to Arctic climate modeling. Their work bridges environmental engineering, biogeochemistry, and climate science.
