Dr. Timothy Miles is an Associate Professor in the Genetics & Genome Sciences Program and Molecular Plant Sciences Program at Michigan State University (MSU). His research focuses on small fruit and hop pathology, post-harvest diseases of specialty crops, fungicide resistance mechanisms, and molecular pathogen detection techniques.
Key research areas include:
- Development of molecular diagnostic tools for plant pathogens
- Investigation of fungicide resistance in Botrytis and Plasmopara species
- Genomic analysis of Bretziella fagacearum and Diaporthe humulicola
- Understanding microbial communities in blueberry and hop crops
- Improving postharvest disease management strategies
Recent publications demonstrate expertise in qPCR/RPA assay development, pathogen genome characterization, and fungicide resistance profiling across multiple crops. He contributes to both fundamental research and applied agricultural solutions through diagnostic tool validation and field-based studies.
